Abstract: Today pipeline inspection through the use of in-line inspection tools is a standard procedure. The goal of these inspections is to collect data in order to assess the true state of a given pipeline. This paper will discuss major issues regarding the quality of data with respect to their use for integrity assessment and fitness-for-purpose applications. Measurement thresholds, accuracies and resolutions are critical parameters relating to suitability of data as input for assessment codes such as ASME B31G, RSTRENG or DNV RP-F101.

The paper will discuss technologies for the detection and sizing of metal loss and introduce relevant integrity assessment procedures based on in-line inspection data, such as run comparisons and corrosion growth analysis.
