| Abstract: |
Pipeline Inspection has in the past tended to focus on the condition of the pipewall, the geometry of the pipe
section, or the curvature of the pipeline being surveyed. Survey tools have required extensive development
programmes, and have been comparatively costly to operate. As electronic technology capable of operating in the pipeline environment has become available at progressively lower cost, it is now possible to collect data pertinent to pipeline operation and management at low cost.
This paper outlines the use of these systems to date, and examines the possibilities for the future of pipeline operations.
