Authors: Dr. R.J. Williams
Abstract: This paper provides an overview of the currently available and future potential developments in the design of high pressure/high temperature (HP/HT) small diameter flowlines for the transport of well fluids from remote reservoirs to fluid handling and processing facilities. The advancement of this technology will minimise local reservoir equipment requirements and therefore aid in the development of marginal fields.

The mechanical design of HP/HT flowlines is reviewed and the current limits of present technology identified. The design parameters that are addressed include; wall thickness, allowable stresses and strains, material and coating selection, and cathodic protection.
