Abstract: In this paper we compare the numerical and experimental results for the external pressure without bending. The constructors of deepwater pipelines need tubular products with enhanced resistance to collapse under external hydrostatic pressure plus bending. On their side, the manufacturers of steel pipe need to have an in-depth knowledge of the effect of different imperfections on the collapse-resistance of tubular products, in order to be avle to adequately control their production processes.
