Abstract: The deformility of high-grade linepipe subjected to axial compression and bending is discussed in this paper, taking various stress-strain relations and design factors into account. In general, pipeline integrity is discussed in terms of resistance and corresponding deformation, represented by peak load or peak movement. Judging from the stress-strain relationships, the resistance and the deformation of high-grade linepipe have been recognized to be higher and lower than that of low-grade linepipes, respectively. The design requirements for high-grade linepipe to ensure the integrity of buried pipelines in the seimic regions are discussed.
